Explore the coastal environment of Griffin Bay and Jakle's Lagoon before a short ascent to Mt. Finlayson with its breathtaking views of the Salish Sea and the Olympic Mountains. This hike explores lush coastal forests, a temperate marine lagoon with views to Mt. Baker, and grasslands with wide-open views. Keep your eyes open for marine mammals, shorebirds, eagles, and red foxes along the way. This hike has a little of everything San Juan Island has to offer.

Explore the landscape of American Camp looking out for wildlife and marvelling at the breathtaking views. On this hike, we will learn about the history of American Camp and the Pig War as we explore the grasslands and rugged coastline of the Salish Sea. Watch for red foxes, bald eagles, passing orca and humpback whales, and more. It’s a favorite hike and for good reason.

This fun hike travels along Garrison and Westcott Bays to the working aquaculture farm of Westcott Bay Shellfish Company for lunch. On this adventure, we’ll learn a bit about English Camp and the Pig War. We’ll also keep a look out for wildlife along the coastal trail leading to Westcott Bay Shellfish Company. Here we’ll enjoy each other’s company during a beachside lunch. What a way to end your weekend.

Sunset Tour

Why not combine a beautiful sunset view with the opportunity to view seals, sea-lions, eagles, and passing orca whales. This sunset tour requires only a 2 minute walk for a stunning view of the Haro Strait and Olympic Mountains. Join us as we relax into the evening while chatting about our natural surroundings.  

Sunset Tour

Location: Young Hill
Time: Start time 6:45pm - 7:30pm

Considered one of the best views on San Juan Island. This 2.5-mile round trip hike to Young Hill climbs 650 feet through Madrona and Garry Oak tree woodlands before opening up to an epic view dominated by Vancouver Island. Haro Straight along with Henry and Sidney Islands provide amazing foreground views. We’ll learn about the geographical layout of the islands and the unique history of the Garry Oak tree among other things. A great way to end your day on San Juan Island.
